1995 C220,,, 80,000 miles. I need to know would the chain make a chatter noise when i rev the engine to approx. 2000rpm then back to idle. It also chatters at idle,and it sounds like it's coming from the front top of the engine.Couldn't find a book.Is the Star Tekinfo site or mercedes site a good place to get tech info? Thanks for any help.

 

Thanks, i forgot to add when i put a make shift listening rod to the thermastat housing, the noise seems to come from there. I'm starting to think it's the water pump.But i have spun all pulleys by hand. All seems ok.I understand that engine noise can radiate through other parts.
