Default Ticking Noise On Start Up

Hey Everyone, I was hoping i could get some feedback on this problem that has been happening for about 2 weeks now.

When I start my car, it will make a ticking noise that sounds like it is coming from the middle dash and passenger dash, somewhere in that area. It is very annoying and loud. When i start my car, it will make the sound for about 5 seconds then stop. Then 20 seconds later it will again start and stay for about 2 minutes straight then goes away.

It does it EVERY single time I start my car, so i start it in the morning to go to work, it makes the sound, go to lunch makes the sound, go home makes the sound etc. you get the point.

I have no idea what this is at all and I was hoping that someone would have some insight as to how to fix this or what is causing it?

I'm new to the forum, but I remember reading a thread recently about this very problem. If I remember correctly, it was some kind of door for the HVAC system and the fix is about $1000 worth of labor to remove the dash and replace a $15 part. I think some people have made the noise go away by moving the temp control from one extreme to the other and back when you start the car. Again, I haven't had this problem myself (yet) but I have heard of it. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the tip, i will definitely try this, the sound is so annoying, i dont want to end up paying all of that labour just to fix the 15 dollar part. Ill post back to let you know if it works.

If anyone has any more info, please help me out with this. Thanks a lot.

Well i tried doing what you said to do (ie. turning it to the extremes) and it doesn't seem to have worked. I will try again in a bit. The weird thing is that if the car isn't on but the air is it does not make the clicking noise but as soon as i turn the car on, it doesnt matter if the air is on or off it makes the noise

Nobody else seems to be chiming in to help you, so I did a few minutes of research myself.
Start by checking out this thread...
https://mercedesforum.com/forum/show...=dash+clicking

If that doesn't work, go to the search thing on top of the page and type in DASH CLICKING . I came up with several threads concerning this problem.

Let us know what you find.
