Super Charger on C240
We love our C240 with all wheel drive, but it is lacking in the power area. I drove the C55 but it doesn't have all wheel drive. So I was thinking of putting a super charger on the this C240. Has anyone done it? What SC did you use?

RE: Super Charger on C240
I like Eaton superchargers myself, I supercharged a 4 cylinder Z3 back on the late 90's and the kit came with a Eaton. Back then it was close to $6K. So the $10K quoted by another member is probably a bargain.
Have you ever done this kind of work? It is not a bolt on and go job, you need some skill and understanding of internal combustion engines to accomplish it correctly. When I did the Z3 I had the help of a BMW club member who supercharged his 4 cylinder Z3. It took us 2 weekends to do the job and fine tune the SC. What I am saying don't get in over your head. all wheel drive, 4 wheel drive whatever you want to call them take up power. I had an Audi A4 with the V6 and Quarttro, sold the car after 18 months the Quarttro was way over rated in my book and just added weight and less power. I drive my C280 with ESP, TC, brake boost and all that electronic stuff all year around with no snows tires, haven't got stuck in the 5 plus years I had the car. People swear by 4 wheel drive, IMHO, I would rather have the setup my C280 has and not the extra weight the 4 wheel drive takes up. I am thinking about buying a Toyota FJ FWD only, as for extra money I can get their version of ESP and Brake Boost, But every dealer I have been too only have 4 wheeler's and for the extra $5K it is not worth it to me. I am not selling any of my Benz's, My son and I are going to share the FJ and we aren't off roader's. Beside wrecking a vehicle, off roading destroys the enviroment. |
