S or c on transmission

Hi,new owner of a 2008 C230,on the transmission which gives the better gas milage keeping it in sport mode or C mode ?

sorry,what ? On the centre consul there is a switch to put the tranny in S mode (sport) or C mode which starts the car off in second gear.Was just wondering which would give better gas milage.
