hey guys,

my car has been reving up on its own while driving...when i come to a stop i notice that the idling is as high as 4000 rpm. but when i press the gas a bit i notice that it stops and goes back to about 700rpm. this happens most of the time when driving. what could be causing this..av also noticed that the car is having a lot of after fire cause of running rich.

could be some loose connector on idle speed valve.

 

where is it located?

someone also suggested a faulty ignition coil. could it also cause it? i noticed that when itsreving up on its own and i floor the gas the car does not move. it hesitates.
