Resetting Service Reminder

Since getting any type of service is expensive at the dealership, I have my own private mechanic who keeps up the maintenance on my benz. He does a great, reliable job the only thing he is not capable of doing is resetting the service reminder. I've called the dealership to see if they can reset it but they said they won't reset it unless I get service done, so now what? It bothers me to see that message everytime I turn on my car. Does anybody know where I can get it reset?

Here is the guide. I did mine and it removed that Service Icon
