Well, here we go. With just over 100K miles on my '05 C230K, I thought I would pose the question. Has anybody had
their transmission fluid (AUTOMATIC) replaced with a filter? And didn't Mercedes tout this as a "lifetime and sealed" tranny?
Meaning no fluid changes "necessary"? Didn't I read that somewhere in the service manual or on this site?

I'm skeptical to just let it go and not change that fluid, knowing full well what happens later on down the road. My dealer
service manager said, "OH!.......WE can change it for you for "about $350.00". Sure they can. Cheaper than a new tranny
later on, I understand, but.....geeze. A fluid and filter change is that much? wow. I can find an independent to do it for me for
half that I'm sure. So, this isn't about whether I should do it or not....I know better.....and I will......but I'm sure I read
about the "sealed" transmission>>>>which only gives people the perception that the thing will last forever.

Maybe MB didn't think anybody would ever keep one of these cars past 100k!

 

ITS NOT A SEALED OR LIFE TIME OIL BUT IT HAS A VERY VERY LONG INTERVALE,TO CHANGED IT YOU LL NEED A GASKET, BETWEEN 5TO 6LITERS OF OIL,ALL PARTS MUST ONLY BE BOUGHT FROM VERY EASY TO CHANGE...........PARTS WILL COST ABOUT £80.00
