P170 code thrown
 

I have just been giving a 1999 230 kompressor. The car is like new and after driving it for about 6 months the check engine light came on. I checked it with my obdII and got a p 107 code. After some checking most think it is the MAF. After clearing the code I proceeded to see what would cause the light to come on. If I run the RPM over 4000 the engine sounds like it is hitting the rev limiter. and the light comes on after a short time. If I clear the light, and drive it under 3000 rpm, the car will go for about 250 miles and the light will just come on. I pulled the MAF and cleaned it with carb cleaner, but did not seem to make any difference.
Before spending the money on a new MAF, then finding out it was something else I though I would try the forums for some possible expert advice. Anyone out there have a similar experience and what fixed the problem.
