OEM parts vs. genuine parts?

Hi fellas,

Do OEM parts work fine? Any worries or concerns to use them?
I need to buy spark plugs and wire, crankshaft position sensor, and a few. I am wondering if I can use them. Genuine parts are terribly expensive, aren't they?
Thanks for your help in advance.

RE: OEM parts vs. genuine parts?

As for spark plugs, Mercedes recommends Bosch and NGK- either are a good pick though from what I have seen lately, many people think that NGK is the better plug.

Regarding ignition wires, unless you are sharp with electronics i'd stay with OEM or Bosch.

The issue is that you can end up spending more by buying cheaper parts and having them not work or wearing out sooner if you are not careful. Remember that one of the curses of a global economy is that parts sourced even from The Fatherland may have been made in India or some other 3rd world ****hole and be vastly inferior. I have a friend who bought a bumper from an American company for his Jeep. Within 2 years the entire outside surface had rusted. When he pulled it off to replace, he found the made in china stamp in one of the corners.

I would definitely buy the CPS from Mercedes.

Regards,

Will

Thanks guys. I think I can use Bosch for ignition stuff then. Yes, I will try to get genuine CPS.
