New radiator, or try to fix the leak?
Hi All,
I have a 99 C280 with about 50K miles on it. Recently I noticed the Coolant light come on, and a slow leak of the coolant. I suspected a leak in the radiator, which was confirmed by a mechanic when I purchased new tires. He told me a new radiator would run about $600, and they usually only last 5-6 years, so he wasn't suprised that mine was having some problems. I am wondering if it is best to replace the radiator for $600, or buy a bottle of that liquid that you can dump in your radiator which supposedly clogs holes for $6. I asked the mechanic about trying to clog the leak, and he says doing that can damage your engine. Any suggestions are much appreciated. Thanks. |
