New Member with Cambelt Question
Hi, all
I'm new to this forum.
My guv'nor and I were chatting at work today. We both share a passion for German cars with 6-cylinders and auto boxes. Only difference being, I have an Audi A4 (long-standing member of Audisport.net) while he runs a 2001 C240 Auto saloon.
His car has done mid 60K miles and is about to go for what he thinks could be a big service. It occurred to me that he might also be due for a cambelt change, but he wasn't sure what the recommended mileage is for changing the belt. He's not very internet-wise & wouldn't have a clue how to go about finding a forum like this one, so I decided to do it instead.
Can any here tell me when a C240 should have a cambelt change? Also, is there any other work that should be done at the same time? For example, on Audis, it always pays to change the water pump at the same time, to save duplicating five hours of labour. Finally, what would be the likely cost at either a franchised dealer or a good indie?
I hope someone out there can help me, and that my admission to Audi ownership doesn't alienate me from you all.
Thanks in advance
JEFF
