Hello there, this is a very nice place to discuss mercs. Well I am going to buy a C280 which is a 1994/1995 with 95000 miles on it. I need some buying tips as to what I need to check and what are the main pitfalls with this car. Please help and it would be much appreciated. Thanks all.

 

hey ive said all this before so do a search at the top.
but quick run down
only real problems with that model (same as myne except auto)
is that the head gasket can leak from factory and needs to be replaced with an updated one. so search the car history and see if this has been done, if not sure take to merc shop and ask if its been done.
and also the engine wiring looms are crap and will soon need to be replaced possibly unless already done, so check these two things out, my car when i bought had both of these things replaced previous owner so i was sweet, those are the two major pop up costs which can be unpredictable.
but good cars none the less

try 97 and up. they have 5 speed transmission.

The software I got on this year C280 shows 2 safty recalls that have to do with the hood latch and about 30 TSB Tech Service Bulletins everything from Noise/Vibration, water leaks, brake odor/smoak to Alignment problems along with the other mentioned problems due to age that the dealer is susposed to fix without telling the owner when it came in for service. So check to see if they had it serviced at MB or Joe's gas station
