Default Missing spare, what to get?

Hi, i have a 2001 C240 with a missing spare tire. Did these cars come with a fullsize or folding spare? If it came with a folding, will a full size wheel fit in the recessed spot in the trunk? Any tips to get a working spare in there on the cheap?

thanks!!!

Do you mean non-full size by "folding"? Your car has full size spare but a steel wheel instead of alloy.

Thanks,

Yes, on some of my previous euro cars, I had those tiny little wheels that fit in impossibly small cutouts which you could only drive up to 20-30 mph on if you ever had to use them. I've also had some that were stored deflated as well so you had to use an included mini compressor to pump them up.

If the C240 has a full steel spare, I wonder if a full size 16 or 17' alluminum rim will fit in there as well?

Since you guys are so interested in folding spares and all, here's a good article...

Stock spare is 16 inch, but you can fit 17" full-size alloy wheel as well.

Thanks K1,

If a 16 or 17 full size will fit, can I fit in an 18 inch rim with an 225/40/18 tire to match the rest of my wheels? I was under the impression that as the rim size changes the tire size adjusts accordingly so the overall wheel size stays the same.

Thanks!
