OK jano, I'll take this one. But you may not like my answer. Now remember that my car is an '05 C230K with 162,000 miles on it now and I bought it new. So, I don't know about a 2003, but it's basically the same engine and I do know about that. I had several problems in the first 65,000 miles of driving it. Little things, yes, but on these German cars, labor and parts can be very pricey. I had the supercharger on the engine go at about 60K miles, so they put a new one on. Will yours last? I don't know. A lot of people here have not had the problems I did, so it depends greatly on the car and how it was maintained and a little bit of luck here and there. I knew things would be expensive if they broke, so I bought an extended warranty for the first time ever on a car and it paid off when the supercharger broke. My particular car has had less problems since it turned 100K miles to the present than it ever did the first 100K miles. I change the oil myself and also change the other fluids. I am a strong believer in preventative maintenance. It seems that it has paid off. The car still runs strong, looks great, and gets 33mpg on the highway and about 27 or 28 in the city if I just cruise along. So, are these cars reliable? Maybe that one will be, and maybe not. Are you feeling lucky? You can always have an independent Mercedes or German auto house check the car out before you buy it and take the leap. It might cost you a hundred bucks to have them go over it, but you might save a lot more than that in the end if there is transmission trouble, engine trouble, etc. Right? Good luck.

I have a 2003 C230K six speed manual, with 175000 KM, for 4.5 years it worked great and I love the car, It handles great, gives excellent mileage.

For the last 2 years it has cost me a fortune in maintenance, at least $7,000. But 4$K is a good price, just put money away for maintenance.

Good luck,

Trygve
