A Manual Way to Cut Off the Check Engine Light?
 

I want to just kill the Check Engine light that has been on for the past few months in my '02 C230K. Is there something I can do to accomplish this?

What is the trouble code? If you purchase an OBDII scanner, you may be able to reset the system, but if you still have the problem, the light should come on again. Whats going on with your car?

Shoot the light with a BB gun. Or, you can pull the dash out and unplug the light. Or, you can fix the problem, as RockSolid suggests.

Do you live in a state that does emissions testing? If so, your car will fail if it's storing an active fault code. You really should fix the problem. The testing station can get the code regardless of whether the light is disabled.

there has been a service measure on your model about the ecu which got very little tolerance on adaptation.

the cel can be dis-abled by using star diagnosis computer.

better take it to the dealer and ask them to adapt the ignition to 93ron, enrichment to stage 1, and +.5 to sensitivity value.

Thanks. I took it to the dealer a while ago, I don't quite remember what they said, but after diagnostics he said that it was something that had to do with the emissions, he said it wouldn't affect anything if not fixed, but it couldn't pass emissions because of the light. I just didn't feel like spending the $1200 at the time to fix it. Looks like I'm gonna have to get it taken care of one way or another.

Aren't certain parts of the emission system-like catalytic converters, control modules, etc- covered for 8yrs./80K mi. as prescribed by Federal law?
