lost of power in a 190E
just had a oil change in a 190E the car had been setting for awhile, and the car lost power while driving, black smoke was coming from the back,so i put two bottles of heat and some more gas because the car had been setting up, and had not been driven, it acts has if it can't burn all the gas that is being put outand it also idles up on it's own, please help in this matter.
Just a shot in the dark...I had a fuel pressure regulator fail on my Cadillac with Northstar motor and it was acting similar to what you experience. The diaphragm of the FPR was perforated and fuel was seeping into the intake manifold thru the vacuum line. When this happens you end up with an over-rich condition. Replacing the FPR solved it. You can pull the vacuum line from the FPR and look/sniff for traces of fuel, it should be clean and dry inside that line...
