Default Knocking sound from armrest area: C230K

Hello everyone - not sure if I'm being paranoid or just that I haven't noticed this before. This is a problem concerning my 02 C230 Kompressor coupe. Recently, I've started to notice a rather gentle knocking sound which appears to be coming from underneath the armrest area. It's only audible when driving at low speeds, less than around 30 mph. On the highway you can't hear anything. Nor can you hear it with the radio on (or if you're talking to someone) and since I usually drive with the radio on I'm wondering if this is why it's escaped my attention until now.

That said, I'm pretty sure there is something knocking about. Does anyone have any ideas what could be the cause of this problem?

Update. Ok I've just got off the phone with the service department at the dealership - they have suggested the area could indicate loose transmission mounts. However, they said I should feel this beneath my seat. I feel absolutely nothing. I would like to stress you really need to listen for this knocking sound. They also said it could just be a regular car noise and that maybe I should drop by for a road test. Since the road test doesn't cost anything I think I will do that regardless. I'm just hoping that they don't scare-monger me into huge repairs!

Default It’s going to be an expensive fix

The Mercedes Benz Service desk said it involves disassembly of the dashboard to get into the air intake, there are two flaps that regulates air and one or both isn’t working properly and needs to be replaced. The flaps control the air circulation in the cabin or deliver outside air into the cabin. I’m waiting for an estimate. My car didn’t have this problem until I got my service B and the service manager said the service B didn’t cause it. I have a CLK320 Convertible and wasn’t able to get my car serviced for the last two years due to the pandemic.
