Default Keyless Entry Problems

I am having some problems with my Keyless Entry on a 1997 C230. More recently, the keyless entry only works about 25% of the time. No matter which sensor I point the remote at to lock/unlock, it sometimes refuses to work, and Im forced to walk to the passanger side to unlock/lock the car. Ive replaced the batteries in both remotes of mine, and both give the same problem. Is it possible for the sensors to go bad? I do not have tinted windows or anything that could interfear.

Let me know if anyone has an idea as to what could be causing this problem.

Thanks!
