I have replaced my infrared key twice and now (again) one of them doesn't work. Yes, I replaced the batteries. HELP!

 

the other keys work?
can you see the red flash (look closely in dark place) when you press the button for more than 5 seconds?

No red flash. No light at all... so I got out the old voltmeter and discovered that the brand new batteries were dead. Both of them. Hmmm. Seems when I replaced the batteries the + terminal of the key got smooshed BELOW the batteries, rather than sitting ABOVE them. And hence the short circuit. And hence the dead batteries. Sooooo, one quick trip to Walgreens and I'm back in business! Thanks so much for the tip!!
