Installing a second hand PMU / ECU - Help !!
The Car is a Merc 180C (My neighbours)
He had to replace the ECU or PMS (not sure of the real name). I brought it off ebay for him as it was a lot cheaper.
Mercedes C180 ECU W202 PMS IGNITION 015 545 72 32 MSG.
I trust the seller.
It is now installed but the car won't start.
My neighbour says it needs some kind of code - but the seller says if it's pre 1998 no code is needed.
All the lights come on but the car won't turn. The seller thinks it is an issue with the interrupter. My neighbour thinks its something to with it needing a code.
Sorry this is a bit vague... but any pointers would be great.
Thanks

Key Code
Thank's guys for the response.
But why would people sell these units then if they don't work in other cars?
The person I brought it from says he sells many of these units (which he seems to on ebay) and has never had a problem.
He did say if the car was pre 1998 no code was needed - is this so.
I am still slightly confused?
Is there any way I can get the ECU to work?
