Failed Inspection - SRS light on
 

Had a bad day today. Took my 2000 280 Sport in for inspection and it failed because the SRS light is on. This light has been on for years and it always passed.

A one time I took it into the MB dealer to have it reset and I was told it needed a $1500 sensor under the passenger seat. This car is 13 years old and only used to take me to the airport. I'm not excited about putting $1500 into it.

Originally I was told the reason the light came on was because I had the battery out of it for a six month length of time and it simply needed to be reset.

Do any of you folks have any suggestions on the least expensive way out of this dilemma?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
