Electrical Problems

Hi,
This is my first post here.

My problem is with my 2001 C240, I had a check engine light on and the dealership told me I needed a new MAF sensor. I purchased one from the dealership and proceeded to install it. While installing it I broke a small nylon fitting in the brake booster vacuum line, so I went back to the dealership and got the new line and installed it. After putting everything back together I started the vehicle and my display is telling me I have a malfunction and to have it serviced. I also have no turn signals, emergency flashers, gas guage is inop., remotes wont unlock the doors or trunk, and the power seats are inop.

Can someone help me figure out what my problem might be and a possible remedy? I did disconnect the battery while I was working on it. The check engine light is no longer on.

Thanks in advance

Tom

RE: Electrical Problems

The problems are related to having disconnected the battery not necessarily what you replaced. I had the same problems when my battery died. The dealership fixed it under warranty. I'm sorry but I don't know exactly how they fixed it.

RE: Electrical Problems

There is no reason to change a MAS any longer. CRC products make a MAS cleaner that really works. I used it on my MAS when I got a check engine light and used a code reader to find the problem. I took off the MAS SPRAYED it from the front, that is the part that faces the air cleaner. I also sprayed the connection to the computer. I cleared the code and no more MAS problems, This product only cost a few bucks, compared to what a new MAS cost.
As far as your other problems, as the previous writer said they are related, you screwed up somewhere in the chain. Might need to go to the dealer and have them sort it out.
Don't feel bad,I have don't the same thing on both my Benz's. Patient is a a virtures when went working on electrical stuff.

Check out my photo album and the harley I bought.
