crankshaft position sensor location?

I 've been having problems with my C280 stalling . I just replaced the MAF and it still stalls intermittently.

The next thing to try would be the Crank Shaft Postion Sensor, but don't know where it is exactly located, and if it could be reached from top?
Sorry for repeating this question for the millionth time, but I just need to know where to look ?

RE: crankshaft position sensor location?

I was able to remove the part. Took less than 5 minutes to locate and unscrew once I purchased the E8 socket.
It seemed like the bolt was somewhat loose. It took no effort to unscrew and I initally thought I had misaligned or stripped the bolt( unlikely considering it was a torx)

Crossing my fingers that replacing this part will fix the problem , and then it will be up for sale.

If it does not work it may be that the sensor needs to re-initialised by the dealer. let me know how it works out...

RE: crankshaft position sensor location?

Mikdade,

I'm selling it to avoid any future problems. The car runs great when I don't have electrical problems, but I have been saying this for the past two years. After I fix something ( always >$400), I feel like it's not worth selling at that point and just continued to drive it.

I've gotten smarter and trying to fix problems myself, it is is an easy fix. I'm more worried about my wife driving this car with my daughter and having it stall without warning on the expressway.

I plan to get a used GS300 as a replacement.

Do you know of any buyers ?:D

I know the original post was two years ago but...

Just replaced my CPS on my '94 C280 and it was a major pain. The part lives just below the oil filter. Access was from the bottom. Could really only feel the part. If you climb up on top of the engine you can peek down past the oil filter and you can see it. Took a 5mm allen wrench from below to remove it. Had to remove a small cable clamp that held the wires running to the starter to get my hand past it.
