Cost to replace computer in 2002 C240

Because my car check engine light comes on & it was determined to be piston misfire, however, now they think it is the computer malfunction. Any suggestions? What kind of costs can I expect?

It sounds like you may need a second opinion. Not sure what computer they are referring, but the engine control module will run $2,500.00.

What codes was the engine throwing?

you should go the dealer and let them check it. you dont want to go buy a computer and it not fix it. computers dont go bad very often.

Took my C240 to the dealer & they could not get the same piston to misfire; they even contacted MB directly & ruled out the replacement of computer, but was told to reset the codes & realign the roader(sp) adaptation.
This cost is $263.00. We see how this works & have my fingers crossed for the best. Thanks for your input.

Are there any "recalls for the 2002 C240?

first thing is to reset the engine sensor adaptations and reset the ring gear adaptation. this should be done when the crank sensor is replaced. ive seen a handful of times where the ring gear adaptation just needs to be reset and then all is good.it can cause misfires all over the place at random and on all cylinders. but you need to make sure that the person working on your car knows what they are doing. usually the dealer is the best place. I know the dealer can screw up at times but When it comes to knowing your car the dealer is where you need to go.
