Default check engine light

Well my tank was down to 1/8.

I filled it up with premium.
Drove 2 miles went into my work came out 5 minutes later, started car and check engine light was on and car is running very rough! Any suggestions??

fuel filter?

Well, this is one of those tricky ones. First, check the gas cap for tightness. OK. You tightened it. One could assume that since you just filled the car up with gas, that it is somehow the gas you put in it. I'm not ruling that out, but the chances are slim. Very slim.
Bad enough to trip a check engine light? I dont think so. Now, you need to scan the OBDII and see what codes are coming up. No other way to do it. Go to Checker or Auto Zone if you don't want to go to the stealership. They do it for free. Don't start replacing fuel filter, this and that, etc. etc. Find out what it is and fix only that=less money spent in the long run.

Default bad news

well the mechanic thinks it the computer. Says the #6 cylinder isnt firing. Just wishful thinking on the fuel filter thing I guess. I will keep posting with any info I get

i have the same problem,the mechanic told me to replace the computer it cost about 3000.00 can you tell me what happen to your

Default problem solved

Well after 2 weeks at one mechanic buying a used computer and it not fixing the problem. I took my car to a new mechanic and he determined I had a air sensor out and a bad sparkplug wire!!




So it was good and bad news.

bad that I trusted the first mechanic

good that I found a better one!
