Changing the W202 engine control from PMS to HMF?

I have this W202 '95 C180 and I've done an engine swap to C230 (without compressor) last summer.

The car runs at the moment with the stock early C180's PMS control. The problem is that the PMS control units ("ECUs") cannot be found in bigger engines than the C200 (at least to my research)
I've had this "little" project in the back of my head to do the swap also for the engine control parts which means I would need to change the PMS controlled system to the updated HMF controlled system.

I'm asking if anyone have ever done such thing or might have some valuable information for the project, if it would be anyways even possible?
I have the donor car still available so it could be such an easy and straightforward job if anything more wouldn't need to be changed besides the engine bay's wiring loom. If the wiring loom is completely different from the battery and inside of the cabin it becomes too big effort for the job.

Any tips or valuable information to look forward into?
Another way to go would be to install a MegaSquirt or some other engine control system but unfortunately I do not have any kind of experience in engine map tuning or any else so the swap would be easier to do perhaps since I do not expect to put any more power out of the stock 2.3 engine has.
