car sounds like bad mattress
Hey I have a 2002 c320 sport sedan. When driving on any bumby surface, the front of my car sounds like a squeeling mattress? Has anyone had this type of problem? Any warranty work involved?

RE: car sounds like bad mattress
C-class are known for there bad lower control arm bushings. The bushings tear and begin to make squeeking noises and even clunking noises. This type of repair will be covered under warranty. If you no longer have warranty than its about a 3 1/2 hr labor job plus
the cost of an alighnment. |

Interesting as I have a thuimbing sound in my 99 but in the rear end when I go over bumps, someone told me the sway bar bushings, but your answer makes a lot more sense.

Only the front lower control arm bushing usually go bad. Your rear end noise might be coming from a bad shock. Those also go bad usually.

Thanks, my car is going in for service next week I'll have the rear shock check. Here is another clue. I hit a raised cross walk, hard to explain what they are, ther higher then the street covered with brick and have reflectors so a driver knows he is approaching it, yestersay, about 25mph and the car bottomed out. I sounded as the bottoming came from the passenger side, I could, tell front or rear? Any suggestions, or do you still think it is the shocks? If they are bad, I think I wll go with a good aftermarket shock? What do you suggest?
Thanks |

Kinda hard to tell. might be a shock, broken exhaust mount, bushings...ect. Going with aftermarket shocks would be fine. Let me know when you figure out the sound. Good luck

Yes, I will, as this was the first time I remember the car "bottoming."
