On my 99 C280 it is under the glove box, You have to remove the panel under the passenger side, and there are two white or off white colored sliding retainer holding the cover for the filter, slide the front one back and the back one front the cover will come down. reach up and there's the filter, make a note on how it is positioned when you take it out. On my car you can reuse the filter, as it is washable. I never have washed it, but I do drop in on a flat surface not to high off the ground to get out most of the debris and then use a soft brush to clean between the pleats and if needed a vac to clean, reinstall is the opposite. Oh almost forgot you will have to take off the vent on the left side of the tranny tunnel first or the bottom panel won't come off. The parts person at a local dealer tipped me off about reusing the filter, they are made to reuse. If you don't get a discount they run around $35. I am a member of the MBCA and get 20% discount at most dealers, some 15% on parts.

Default '95 C280 cabin air filter

Does my C280 have a cabin filter? I found the same box mentioned on the '96 C280, but when I open it up, there's no filter. It is the location of the fan for the AC and heat. Any ideas? Should there be a cabin filter in there also?

C280,
You're awesome! Thanks so much. I was under the dash because the blower was making noise, but I never saw the location of the cabin filter. I'll check it out and see if it needs replacing (which most likely it does). Thanks again.
