Default C320 not starting

Hi All, hope someone can help... My wife's merc is not starting. on a rare occasion it will start and even if it does, if you switch it off and start it again it struggles to start. today it finally gave up. I think it may be a fuel supply problem. on the fuel rail their is a schrader valve (like a tyre valve) and when you crank the engine there is no fuel coming out. so i split the main fuel line and put it into a jerry can, when it cranks over i get fuel out of the line but there seems to be very little pressure from the line. so here is my questions,finally.lol....1) does the engine management monitor fuel pressure? 2) what could cause the loss of pressure?

P.S. she had it at a local garage who said that they changed the fuel pump, but im suspicious of that. i just dont trust garages. and the fault returned withinn 2 weeks.

any info is greatly appreciated.

hi Naz, cheers for the filter info. I was wondering how the pressure was regulated. i don't know if it was changed. it was my Ex- that dealt with it and she didn't even get a reciept from the garage. Dumb blonde!! I'm gonna have a word with the garage tomorrow.

thanks for the info Naz,, hit the garage with it. they changed the filter and guess what? one merc back to life!! they didnt charge for the filter change and rightly so! Wont use them again. It cost the ex £340 quid for lots o other stuff that didn't work! Cowboys are alive in Renfrew!

thanks again
