Hi, I wonder if anyone else has had this problem? After driving perfectly on a thirty mile journey home I swung my car round to reverse on to my drive. When I moved the shift to the reverse position no gear was engaged. I tried going through the gears and got nothing. When I went into reverse again the car moved forwards (felt like it was in second gear.) I drove it around the block and forwards onto my drive. After switching off the car it would not start again. It is a C270 Elegance (2001.) I would appreciate any ideas as to what old be he cause.

 

Sounds like the ESM (Electronic Shifter Module) is defective...basically your Transmission Shifter PRND!
