Default C250 TD - Rev Range - Manual vs. Auto

Hi Lads,

This would be my first Merc purchase. I am looking at the C250 TD, but I am unsure whether to go for the auto or the manual.

At what revs is maximum power achieved and at what revs does the auto version change up. I am concerned that the auto might change up before maximum power is reached in the mid gears. Also, if I was to get it remapped, would the auto change up too early with more power at lower revs, or would this sort any issues with changing up early.

Also, any general comments about fuel economy or reliability would be welcome.

Cheers,

Scott

Thanks for the reply,

There seems to be one available (in Ireland at least). I have been looking at these:

I apologise, it was late and I did not read your email properly. I saw some with reference to 'manual', but it may have been the c250 standard. Thanks for your help, that makes my choice quite easy...

If you want good fuel economy avoid automatics. Dont believe the figures in the official Mercedes manual that tells you the auto does 2 mpg less than the manual.....its a total lie. Driving like a saint or a sinnermy 2006 ("high efficiency") C220 auto does 30mpg in town and barely 40 on the motorway. Dont say I did not warn you.
