Default C240 oil change

Hey guys,
Just wanting some advice on changing oil in my 2002 C240. I has the V-6 and is a manual. It is currently on 0w40 mobil oil, and says a B schedule is due in 3000 miles. It looks like the oil filter cover is on the top front right of the engine. Can anyone confirm this? I do not have the service manual, but I believe the B schedule is oil and cabin filter changes. Do I have to reset the computer so it knows I have done the oil change, or will it just continue until the next one is due. Also, what is a good quality oil filter to use. I would like a good one because of the longer intervals on the oil changes. Thanks for any info, you guys always have some good insight on questions.

if you take your car to the dealer for service B, they will do oil change for you.
i'd suggest to wait 3000mi and get oil change done FREE.

You are correct that cap on the right as you face the front of the car . filters from autozone or napa are good if you dont have these stores get it from a number of MB internet part stores . you have to reset the service b if you have no manual heres how to reset from manual turn the key to position 2 to call up the the trip odometer and main odometers press the ( two little boxes ) button on steering wheel press till fss indicator ( service a or b) then press reset button(botton on the left side of speedometer also light dimming switch) for 4seconds the display will ask if you want to reset the rest just follow directions good luck

I did my 1st DIY oil change on my C240 yesterday. No problems. My dealer (Laguna Niguel, CA) wouldn't sell me the part to remove the filter (What a surprise!) I was able to find one at pep boys that fit perfectly (76mm, 14 point flute). Several filters are available via the internet and over the counter at most autoparts stores. It was a nice surprise to find out that Walmart actually sold 0W40 Mobil 1 (8.5 quarts). I didn't have any suction devices so I removed it the old fashion way via the drain bolt (13mm bolt). Aside from having to remove all the screws holding the protective plastic pan covering, it was quite a quick and easy process.

After just calling Mercedes and finding out they want anywhere from $130 - 150 for an oil change I think I am inclined to do mine myself as well!!! I have the 2003 C240 with 48,000 miles so I hope mine will be as straight forward as you have indicated. I believe these cars take about 6.5 quarts of full synthetic, is this accurate?

Anything else I should Know before I dive in??

Thanks Guys

Remember, the dealer is always more than independant shop. Found place near me called Eurospec. They only work on Mercedes. Very affordable. Actually, they are cheaper doing work on my Benz than any service ever done on the Hondas I had previously.

Filter is on the top right, I just buy one from MB. You have to go under the car and remove the front plastic under panel....4 screws....then the next or middle plastic splash cover. now the Oil drain nut is exposed. Remove nut and drain the 8 litres of oil. MB will give you a new copper washer of which you replace on the Oil nut. Remove the filter on the top right of engine use filter wrench and then pull the filter...plastic and all out of the engine. The filter will pull off the end. Note the placementand remove all the old O rings. Now push the new filter on the way you first got it. Push back into the engine and tighten. Now fill up the oil in the fill at the back or firewall I believe it is. Replace all the undercarriage panels and then reset the computer for the next A plan. It is mentioned in your owners manual how to reset.....cant remember. Hope this helps;

You can order your oil, air and cabin filters, etc. onlinefrom autohausaz.com. They have the OEM type parts you need, probably for less than what the dealer would charge you. Place an order over $50 and they will ship via UPS for free.
Just remember to get the "fleece" oil filter (for extended service intervals).
I have ordered from them before and was very happy with there service.

If ur draining the old fashion way every 3rd oil change i buy garbage or cheap dollar oil and run it thru for 30 seconds and drain it once i take my mobile out. a semi synthetic wont hurt ur ride but it does wonders for getting left over crap out of the top of the heads on ur oil change and keeps the oil cleaner on oil change intervals it a trick i learned fom my dad n it is a noticeable diff plus u would be suprised what color that second oil comes out at. I was and remeber at 6 bucks a qt i want every dollar out of it not just dirt waiting to get on it once i worked to change it.

remember oil is a contaminent. it mixes w gas and carbon and this is what sits in the oil while it tries and lubricates ur gaskets seals and bearings taking every precaution is only lengthening ur service life.
