C230 Sport Coupe - Buying Used
I have been looking at 2002-2004 C230 Sport Coupes with 60-90K miles.
1. What should I be aware of and look for when shopping for this model with this mileage?
2. Can I expext to get +150K miles out of a properly maintained C230?
3. Is there a recommended model year that I should gravitate toward?
Thanks for your help.

I bought a 2007 C230 sport back in April of 2010. I happen to drive alot for work and put almost 20k miles on it since. I absolutely live this car. Looks super sharp, drives smoother than others that I test drove in the same range. It's a 6sp Manuel and has some quickness to it. The only cons to tlmy car is that it lacks the power that I was looking for. I'd live to add another 80-100hp. If your interested in a C230 I'd drive it along with a 3series BMW. I personally liked the comfort in the MB more. Now I just need to add a few performance upgrades to keep me in love with it. I purchased mine for 22k with 27k miles on it. Can't say anything bad about the car at all. I've had a few issues in some areas but MB has been solid with servicing these issues since I have a 100k certified warranty. Good luck. I'm sure you will love the car.

2002 was the first year in North America and has a different engine (couple more HP) than subsequent years.
Look for a car with the BOSE sound system over the stock radio.
Most of the cars came with the panoramic sunroof but make sure you get one with it. It adds a lot of light to the interior and makes the car seem larger.
Make sure the hatch opens OK since the struts can get worn out.
Some cars have had wiring issues wih the headlights and parking lights but it is fairly easy to rewire.
The EVOLUTION versions come with 17" wheels and higher performance tires, colour keyed door handles and fancy pedals and car mats.
If you can score some winter tires then bonus because this car is hopeless without a good set of four winter tires.
Batteries should last a long time. The ride is a little softer than a BMW but the handling is very good IMO. Power isn't huge but it is adequate.
My wife still loves her 2002 C230 we bought new in 2002.
