Default C220 and c280 question

Hello everyone,

I'm thinking of buying a Mercedes 1996 c220 or 1995 c280. I would like to know what the main difference between two is, besides that c280 has a bigger engine. Are there any option differences; like heated seats not present in c220 and c280 has them...

Thank You.

Sleepwalker has a good point. But to answer your question directly and both cars are equal, I would go for the C280, 6 cylinder, nicer interior, more options that are standard. But you really need to do a CARFAX and check both out and I think that is what Sleepwalker has in mind. If both come back OK, go C280. I have a 99 and it is a joy to drive.

no vin numbers yet... I was just looking thru models and prices for last couple days and today I came with the decision that i will go with C class. Didn’t know its going to be this hard to get the options list but from "c280 wizards" post I see 280 has more options that are standard and coming from owning different bmw's i cant leave without options anymore

I will post a reply here when I find a c280 I want and maybe you guys will help me out identifying what it has...

Thanks guys!

Make sure the car is equipped with ESP, this is an option, great in snow as you can turn it off and the differential locksup and you get power to both rear wheels to get out of heavy snow, and the BOSE sound system, both are standard. Make sure the phone hasn't been ripped out, it is an option but should stay with the car, mine was and after much hassling with the dealer I got a new one at no cost. You need to have the option list of the car your buying. My dealer printed it out for me. According to what year you buy. Make sure the "smart key" functions, unlock all door or just drivers, raise and lower windows, open trunk and start car without holding "key" until engine starts, heated seats, these are an option on the C280. If I think of any more I will Post. good luck. If you buying from a Dealer try and find one that is STARMARKED. The problem areas in my car are the Battery, three in three years and the MAS. Also the front brake pads are usually shot by 40K miles, have them checked and replaced by the dealer.

Press the "ESP off" button(but the ASR will still be on)
