Hi, i recently just bought a 2005 c class estate, i was driving it and i don't know if i pressed something but on the audio systm screen and dashboardit displays MUTED. I can not use the audio systemat all i.e. radio and cd. I've pressed every single button on the dashboard but the message muted remains. How can i unmute it??? (Before you ask i have tried pressing the button with the picture of a speaker on it- the mute button i think) Is there a way to reset the audio system? Any advice would be appreciated. The audio system is like this one

 

Perhaps a stupid question but have you tried the steering wheel mounted volume controls.
I also believe the system mutes for phone operationperhaps the sytem thinks you are on the phoneperhaps someone more knowledgeable could answer that question.

 

Hi I have a 2001 SLK 230 and my radio also muted and I can't get it to clear to the radio functions. Just checking to see if you found the problem and how to correct it? thanks!!!
