Adding XM or Sirrus Radio to 2005 C230K
Riamga,
Let us know when you are done with the install, and it would be great if you can please post some pictures.... I've been waiting on Pro-fit to come out with the necessary vsm bracket for the 2005 model. Not sure if the 2004 bracket mount will fit the 2005 model, specially since the radio unit is now different.
Thanks

To Fshams:
I have finished the installation of the Sirius radio into my 2004 C230. As I have said before, its nice to have Sirius in the car as it adds alot for me perosnally to be able to listen to Satellite radio music rather than the boring FM stations with their endless banter and commercials. I will try to post some pictures of the finished result on the web-site in the next week or so. As far as the 2005 model is concerned, it is definitely different than the stock factory radio that came with the 2004. Also, I'm pretty sure MB makes a stock radio for the C230 that comes with Sirius, although I think its around $700. Even though thats a hefty amount of money, if you really like the Sirius and the car itself, consider spending the money. The main reason is the extreme difficulty in doing th installation.
I spent the better part of three days doing it and did leave a few scratch marks on the air vent although they really aren't noticeable unless you really look hard for them. Also, if there are any folks out there considering installing the Motorola Blue Tooth hands free cellular telephone kit, forget about it! Along with the Sirius radio kit I ordered the Blue Tooth hands free car kit for my Motorola cell phone. If you try to install both of these products in the 2004 model, your efforts will meet with futility. There is barely enough room to install the Sirius radio kit let alone the Blue Tooth hands free cell phone kit. One thing is very clear, MB wants you to buy all the accessories for their cars from your local dealer. Although my Sirius installtion looks very good, ie; as good as a factory installation job, it was very, very difficult and given the choice of doing it over again, I would proably opt for buying a Sirius radio from a brand that offered the ability to install the Sirius unit into a boom-box type set-up with a remote control and put the whole set-up in the back seat. Believe me, thats how difficult it was. Lastly, I'll try to get time to post those pictures so you can see what I mean.
Regards,
Riamga
