AC in economy mode

I have a 98 C230 and my a/c was working fine yesterday, but today, i turned it on and it said its in economy mode. It seems as though only the fan is blowing, there is no cold air coming out, and whether the auto is on or off, it just blows warm air. I checked the hood and it looks as though the compressor isnt even running

evaporator sensor or pressure sensor for refrigirant.

it said it's in economy mode...........there is the answer.

In a Mercedes, default is AC ON. If you want A/C OFF, you have to press the button that says EC. A red light will come on.

Remember, EC = A/C-OFF.

It could be as simple as...your A/C was switched off.
