Default 320 engine life

Bit of a general question, my 2nd post here.
I can buy a 2001 180,000 mile automatic CLK 320. Provided I seea service history, should I be
concerned with what I consider to be high mileage?
Generally how long do these engines/gearboxes last?

180,000 Miles on a 2001. Personally I wouls stay away from that buy. At 180,000 miles so many things are just bound to go wrong. How much are they asking?

Thanks for the reply.
I'm in the UK, they're asking £3950. That's a lowish figure for a 2001. Similar aged cars with 50/90 k miles ask
around £6000.

Ok im in the USA so 3,950 pounds would be $7,802. For that price I would recomend finding another Benz or go with an older CLK with less miles but older. Some recs would be a:1990-1995 SL,E, or S Class. or Klass as some say.

I agree!
Although I prefer the pre-1990 S class, nicer looking.
And i've had a look at a 1998E430, but the rear wheel arches were rusting badly. The car drove very well though!

I really like the 2000 era CLK, so i'll bide my time until I find the right one. It's all
about gut feel in the end.

It depends on how the car was maintained. Even with frequent oil changes, etc. you might be lucky and you
might not. Did the previous owner change the transmission fluid and filter? Those transmissions are PRICEY!
I myself would stay away. It could get real expensive fast if something major goes.
