3 to 4 gear change
Dear Friends,
I own a 2000 c180 classic, it has a 722.6 trans, and my problem is when ever it changes from 3 to 4 it drags and feels like a catapult. I changed the gear selector, that didn't solve the problem. Changed the fluid and still no improvement.
Please I need help on what to check or repair.
Thanks

Sounds like you've got a serious problem on your hands. Either you need a new valve body, solenoids, transmission control module, or you need a transmission rebuild.
You can either bring it to a dealership or a transmission shop and have them do a breakdown inspection. Unless of course you're a mechanic yourself, then I would suggest going for the solenoids first, inspect internals. The only problem with opening up the transmission is you don't want to open it up and replace only one or two things and then put it back together, only for the transmission to have no change or even perform worse. The reality is if you're opening it up once, try to replace anything you think needs replacing before putting it back together. Trans Oil is not cheap! Not only that, but if you do it yourself only for the transmission to no longer work then you spent money to make it worse. So whatever you feel most comfortable doing is up to you.
If it was my car I'd just drive it until the transmission dies. Is it more expensive to replace the transmission rather than fix it? IDK, depends on what's really wrong with your transmission. Good luck to you.
Also, my personal recommendation on what place to bring it to -- Dealership. They have all the schematics and parts lists, even if the mechanic isn't a master the service manager and parts managers will help with the rebuild process. Or, transmission replacement is also a more simple thing at a dealer rather than anywhere else.
