2011 C300 4Matic Occasionally Stumbles and Stalls When First Started
Hi All,
I am trying to pinpoint the issue with my 2011 C300 4Matic (119K) that for the last month occasionally stumbles and sometimes stalls when first started and the check engine light comes on with the following codes:
Codes P0300, P0301, P0302, P0303, P0304, P0305, P0306 - (All Cylinder Misfires)
P0632, P0636, P0648, P0642, P0656, P0640, P0652 - (All Cylinder Combustion Misfires)
Same issue happened 14 months ago so I took it to a local mechanic who said I had a defective "Intake Manifold" so I had it replaced using Genuine Mercedes parts and problem solved. Supposedly there was a known issue with a plastic flap that brakes due to material and poor design?? I replaced all coil packs and sparks plugs myself prior to taking it to a mechanic.
My mechanic again said it was the Intake Manifold and it should be covered under 24 month warranty . Called Mercedes and they verified that the part and labor would be covered if it was the intake manifold. It would cost $375 + tax if their diagnosis determined it was something else.
I agreed and made an appointment armed with all documentation including my mechanics report, Dropped off the car and 30 minutes later was contacted that the codes do not indicate it's a bad Intake Manifold and if I wanted to have them do further diagnostics it could cost up to $900 for up to 4 hours labor to determine the issue!!!!!!
Very misleading, I thought if for some reason it wasn't the Intake Manifold at least I would know the issue for the diagnostic cost. After talking with the manager he finally agreed to cut their price in half so I paid the $200 and left.
Any ideas on what to check before I have to take out a second mortgage and return to my mechanic or Mercedes?
Sincerely,
Bob K
********(PS) I did find out from Mercedes that the "Rear Subframe" had corrosion and holes! But the good news it was covered by an extended warranty of 20 years/Unlimited Miles. Parts were ordered! The cost would have been $3.477.47. I was never notified by Mercedes! Search for the "Extended Warranty" dated July 4, 2023. It covered several models from 2005 to 2017.*******
