2007 C230 Rear Door Question
Hi all,
Just got my new 2007 C230. The manual says the rear door should open from the inside, even when the car is locked. The owner's manual explains that the door handle is pulled once to unlock the door, and then a second time to open the door (much like my old volksie). I have found that the door can never be opened unless the car is unlocked. It is almost as if there is a "child safety" feature engaged. Can anyone offer some guidance?
Thanks!

Uh yes, there is a Child Safety device on the driver side door right below the power window buttons. Make sure it's in the off (clear circle) position. If you see a solid circle (filled in white) shift the lever to the right to unlock.
All doors can be opened from the inside.
If you want the rear doors not to be opened from the inside at all times, then you will have to enggage the chikd safety lock. It is a little gadget you will see below the door lock when the door is open. Then the rear doors can only be opened from the outside when they are not locked.
