2005 last production year on c230 coupe?

Is this statement true? Merecedes will no longer market and sell the c230 coupe after 2005 in the USA. Does anyone know why? It seems that I see enough of these cars on the road.

I wouldn't be suprised if this is true.
BMW has made the same mistake with its own 318 ti, and Mercedes is too stupid to learn from its competitors mistake.

I read Mercedes might cull how many models in the C Class, as they are introducing that puddle jumping car. Also, the coupe or hatchback has not been the greatest selling model they make? IMHO, good idea, good timing, but bad execution of product. I test drove one, before I bought my C280, and liked the car, but my back didn't like the seats, Also, some people have told me the car looks like the grafted the front and rear together and they don't look right. Personally if I didn't have such a bad back I would have bought one.

This is probably one of the most versitile cars i've ever owned! Sad to see it go. The best part is a feature that many dealerships do not even know about! This car has the ability to fold down the back seat to create a totally flat cargo area without having to take out the headrests! You simply pull the bottom seat up to a vertical postion, and the seatbacks fold flat whilst the headrest slides into the concave area created by the seat bottom. It's great being able to reconfigure the car in under a minute and the area that opens up is immense! This car is mcuh better than the 318ti coupe!

Sales of the hatchback were good for a while, but the diehard Mercedes people, felt they were shortchanged, but Mercedes selling a cheap car and a hatchback. But sales were so good, BMW has decided to get back into the hatcback market with the 1 series in 06 or 07. Personally I like the car, if my back was so badly damaged I would have one in my garage now.

These segment of cars is extremely successful in Europe, where it is difficult to find parking space and a few inches make the difference between circling a block for fifteen minutes or finding a parking space. Here in the US most of the parking is head-first, so anyone can have big cars without really suffering the consequence of lack of space.

I like small cars because I am used to handling them at home in Spain. It is fabulous to have a car with so much attention to the detail, good performance in such a small package. If the C230K didn't exist I would not have purchased a Mercedes, but an Audi TT, but the C230 is far more practical, still being fun to drive.

I don't think it is smart to stop production. The BMW hatchback is STILL a bestseller in Europe.
