2005 C240 tune

Can anyone tell me how I can add 10 to 20 horsepower to my beloved C240?
The price range is upto $1000.

Yes, trade it for an AMG or go here http://www.globalautoshop.com/perfor...ance_index.htm for a B&B CAI, they really work. I replaced my home made ram intake for one of these and the improving in acceleration especially above 3K rpm is very noticeable. These really work, in a week or so I am having my car dyno'd and will post results Not the Vortex booster they don't work the B&B CAI

A dyno test won't prove whether a CIA works or not, but have fun anyway.

20hp would be an amazing increase for a CIA on a 6-banger. You might get that on a high output V8 if the CIA is well designed, but most aren't.

Personally I fell it is closer to 5HP, but when I had a bimmer the torque went up 10lbs, on a dyno by the way. and only 6 HP gain, but torque is really makes a car pull and the V6 IMHO has an amazing torgue range. MB did a great job when they designed this engine.

I carefully worded that last post of mine. The reason I made that statement is because in order for a CIA to work most efficiently, it needs to get a constant, high volume supply of "cool," fresh, ambient air. Besides a floor fan the dyno shop bought at Home Depot, the dyno shop doesn't provide the necessary air supply to "prove" whether or not it works. A wind tunnel would be ideal, but where do you go for that if you don't know an astronaut?

A 5hp or 10lbs of torque increase could be caused by many things. It would take many dyno runs with and without the CIA installed to isolate the gain to the CIA. Plus, we all know that hp is a funtion of torque.

MB makes great engines. I won't disagree with you on that. But, you gotta be able to do the math. MB can't defy the laws of physics and make magic energy. There's only so much you can do with an air intake, above what the manufacturer has already done. There certainly is some extra power there to be had, but like I said, you'd be lucky to get 20hp out of a high performance V8 motor. And, that would be under ideal conditions such as great quality gas, cool dense air, near-perfect design, etc.

Finally, you must have an overly sensitive butt. I've never heard of anybody being able to honestly feel a 5hp change. At around 20hp, a lot of the people I know can start to feel something is different, but they still use a clock to confirm it.

Thanks guys for advice. For less than $200, +5hp is reasonable.

But... do I void my factory warranty if I install the B&B cold air intake?
Also, did you guys ever heard about voltage regulator increasing hp?
You can find it in below website.

2005 C240 (only 168hp -_- and the new C280 got 228hp for same price f**k!)

anyway~ thanks for the advice.

Oh... also, how good is the under drive pulley?
Some says they get +10hp on that thing.

The entire warranty shouldn't be voided, but any problem(s) that MB can attribute to the aftermarket intake probably will be voided.

If you have a properly operating electrical system, you don't need to waste your money on some electrical gimmick.

Underdrive pulleys don't add any hp at all. They work on the same principle as changing gear ratios. The engine can spin easier, hence it thrusts the car faster, hence the sensation of more power.
