2003 C240 Warped rotors

I had not driven my wife's 2003 C240 in a couple of months but when I hit the breaks doing over 100 kph there was a bad rumble in the rear brakes. She had not noticed it because she drives it each day and it just slowly built up to this point and went unnoticed.

The car has about 32,000 kms on it. Took it into the dealer and pads and rotors were replaced under warrenty, no questions asked.

I asked the service writer if this was normal and he said they see there share of this.

Does this sound right to you guys??? What causes this? Would warping not seem more common on the front rotors?

Thanks in advance for any replys!

at 32k km, i cannot say the thickness have come to the point where it is subjected to warp yet.

i've seen a lot but of much higher mileage and on the front.

I had problems with the front runners and brakes pads around the same mileage, I had them replaced as they were worn according to the dealer, But I also feel the rotors and brake pads on my C Class have a premature wear issue, but hard to prove at least with Mercedes, next time I going for a set of Brembo's which I should have done, but be handicapped the dealer with pick up my car and return it. But my starmark runs out July 15, no more dealers for me. I asked them to keep the old parts for me, they gave a suspecious OK. I had the rotors check at a local MB private shop and he said they were worn pass the safety limit, but he added, go aftermarket the next time? Sleepwalker what are your thoughts?

you always have 4mm wear limit.

sometimes i reface them using the machine to make the surface even. it costs less and effective too.

Interesting, my service advisor told me Mercedes does not recomend resurfacing their rotors. It is not safe, the service advisor added. But the make more more on rotor replacement then resurfacing, so you know where the dealer is coming from.$$$$

that's right.
i always recommend replacement too in order to earn the 30% profit from parts.

so far i only machine those who are good customers and no any backjob or complaint ever since i did it.
