I just bought a 2000 C230 and today I was at a stop, and suddenly the car made a knocking noise and jerked forward and the fuel light started blinking. The fuel gauge still read half a tank. The car drove fine after that, but the light wouldn't stop blinking. When I got home I shut the car off, and restarted it. The problem was gone, but I feel like it will happen again. Is there anyone who has had this problem, and/or any suggestions to fix it?

 

A blinking fuel light can indicate your gas cap needs to be tightened or replaced. Check you owners manual.
As far as the I'm sorry, I have no idea.

 

Thanks RockSolid! Turns out that the fuel cap seal had loosened and rotated. I bought a new cap and haven't had any problems since. Typically, (from what the dealer said) the check engine light comes on too, but it didn't in my case. I'm glad it was such a minor fix! Thanks for the help!!
