1995 W202 Starting problem
 

I have a 1995 Mercedes W202 (C36). It abruptly started giving me trouble yesterday. [/align][/align]Shut car off at bank yesterday. Wouldn't start one minute later. Every freaking light on the dash is on but itwon't crank. <Little popping starter noises but not turning over>Car has been running fine with no warning lights, least of all a battery charge warning. I get a jump and make it home. Turn car off, try to restart - nothing. Same deal. [/align][/align]Today I replace the battery with a new one. Old battery tested a failure/replace at Advance Auto. With new battery installedcar still won't start. I hook up a spare battery inline with the freshly installed battery via jumper cables. Starts car just fine. No warning lights. Disconnect spare battery. Idle drops, ASR and ABS lights come on. Turn on headlights and car dies. [/align][/align]Bad new battery or alternator? I've never had a battery or alternator fail without giving a warning light in any other vehicles.[/align][/align]Thanks in advance,[/align][/align]Erik Aasland[/align]
