1990 300CE 7,000 miles

I have the opportunity to buy a 1990 300CE with 7,000 original miles that was owned by a close friend who died in a motorcycle accident in northern California last year. We were on our way from Tahoe to Yosemite when the accident happened. This was a car he bought new and garaged and babied. Took it for a short ride or to shows. Never saw rain or snow and certainly never got dirty. Black with light grey leather interior. I have never owned a Benz and need to know what should be done to this car as well as any considerations that may be pertinent to this model and year car. This is my first post on this Forum although I am a member of other Forums for other makes and have received invaluable information and advice from members of those Forums. All comments and advice are welcome. Thanks in advance.

Nice car, that. Given it's age I would change all fluids to include coolant and brake fluid. Have your mechanic checkall hoses andbelts as well. Some of the103/104 engines had cylinder head gasket issues so watch the temp guage and if it spikes-SHUT IT OFF IMMEDIATELY! Remember that there is nosuch thing as a cheap Mercedes engine and if you cook one, you will bleed.Essentially the bottom end on those cars are bullet-proof. Another nice thing about cars from that era is that they did not have the 130mph speed limiter that they began installing on the 94 model year. I expect you should have a good, fast and classy ride. Best of luck with the car.Regards,Will

RE: 1990 300CE 7,000 miles

Thanks for your reply. I moved this post to the E forum when I realized I posted in the wrong place. In that post there is more info about the car, 1991 not 1990 and 8,800 miles not 7,000. There is also info on an even nicer car(in some peoples opinion). 1996 C36 AMG, silver with 1700 miles. My friend's son is looking for a buyer but knows little about the marque. Opinions on a fair asking price for the C36?
