06 230 Recall Notice

Anyone else get a recall notice regarding the airbags? I'll scan and post if anyone is interested. I think it covers 230's produced between 04 and Dec 05, which would include a small portion of early production 06's.

Steve.

Yes, I have had mine replaced, and have replaced countless others.
You should not be concerned of airbag failure.
The recall states that if you are a woman under 5ft and sit too close to the steering wheel and get in an accident you may be injured.
This is just another reason why cars are so damn expensive, Mercedes has to pay $1000.00 per C class (only the Sport model steering wheel). All that money wasted because some one might be hurt in an accident. Sory for the rant, I just believe if there are decent safety measures, and you still get hurt, its just your time. No every one is going to live forever.

Nice Theory, weirdo.

There is also another recall on the transmission plug. I brought mine in before the recall because I was lucky enough to discover the problem on my own. Just know that there is a leak and that they will send you a recall to change the plug. I have an 05 C 230. Hope this helps

Why nice theory, that is the reason for the recall. Trans plug is the 13 pin electrical connector recall, just went into affect last week, eventhough the transmissions have been leaking from that connector for years now.

My wife drives the car primarily, and she is exactly 5ft. Short people routinely have to sit to close to the wheel because short people normally have short legs too. Anyway, I hadn't read the entire notice and was not aware of this statement being included. Guess it is time for my trip to the dealer.

As for the tranny recall, I don't think that applies to my 06. I have the 7 speed automatic. I don't think that is the same tranny the used in the 05's, is it?

I think he's referring to the I'm-not-a-5'-lady-so-screw-the-5'-ladies-they-ain't-worth-it, fixing-that-defect-will-make-my-car-cost-more theory.

Are you sure about the transmission recall? There is nothing on the web about it?

Well even though nobody asked I scanned it anyway. Perhaps someone will need to see it.
