S55 what year or CLS instead?
 

I currently own a Bonneville GXP with the Northstar V8. I want to move up to a better more powerful car. I test drove a 2001 S55 and it was pretty fast but I keep reading that the 2003 is much better. Not only because of the supercharged engine but led lighting etc? If I am gonna be spending so muc would I be better off looking for a used CLS or is that a lower car. Please help as I am very very new to the MB world.

I was also thinking of a BMW 745 etc. but I like the S55 so much.

nice bonneville great car and engine.

the 2001 S55 is good but the 2003 S55 is better but if u wnated a car that really looks good then a CLS55 would be a great buy if you could find one in ur price range.

but the S55 would be just as nice, more spacious

I just bought a 2003 S55, and couldn't be happier with the purchase. It's the most thrilling drive I've ever had. Power is instantaneous and abundant. Handling is great for such a big car. Really nothing like it that I've ever been in.

Well I went with a 2003 BMW 745i instead. For the price you could not beat the value and the car was just much more advanced than the dated 2001 s55 I drove. I would have loved to get a 2003 S55 with the supercharger and other updates but money was an issue for me. maybe one day I will consider a 2004ish S55 but for now I am enjoying the 745i.

I traded in my 2003 745 LI for a 2003 S55 AMG. No comparison. The S55 is better in ALL facets. The car's power is ridiculous. The only two features that the 745 beats it on is the Nav system, along with the comfort. In the 745, you don't feel anything. Almost like riding on a cloud.

i have owned both cars, i have an 03 s55 right now i bought my wife, if you have a family def. go with the s55 much more spacious. the cls looks great but the back seats are almost useless. i owned an 06 cls 500 and sold it and got a 03 s55 and sl55. i love the supercharger. here is a pick of the cls i had.
