purchasing a used clk 55

hi guys,

I am thinking of buying a used clk 55 (yr 2003+) and was wondering if this is a safe buy.Its either this or a used E55. Since the engines are hand built, does this mean that they are more prone to breaking down compared to a clk 500? Also, can you guys tell me possible problems that can occur withbuying a used mercedes and possible ways to prevent such problems from occurring? Any opinions/help would be appreciated. TIA!

RE: purchasing a used clk 55

THE 2003+ CLK CHASSIS IS A BETTER CHASSIS THAN THE E-CLASS 2003+ CHASSIS, WHEN I SAY CHASSIS THE E-CLASS HAD THE SBC BRAKING SYSTEM WHICH IS BRAKE BY WIRE. IT HAS PROBLEMS, BUT IT IS BETTER THEN IT USE TO BE. THE E-CLASS WILL HAVE A SUPERCHARGED V8 COMPARED TO THE CLK NATURALLY ASPERAITED V8. BOTH CARS ARE FUN TO DRIVE. AS LONG AS YOU STAY UP ON THE MAINT. EVERYTHING WITH THE ENGINE SHOULD BE OK. I HOPE THIS HELPS. IF YOU HAVE ANYMORE QUESTIONS LET ME KNOW.

RE: purchasing a used clk 55

last november i purchased a 2005 CLK 55 AMG Cabriolet, certified pre-owned. It had 19,000 miles on it. so far no major problems. one advantage to CPO program is an extra year of warranty coverage (5 years from date of original purchase). if you buy an extended warranty expect to pay about $2,000 - $3,000 per year.
